Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream in San Francisco, USA

Apart from my usual visits to Ghirardelli for my hot fudge sundae, the other ice cream (or should I say gelato?) parlour that I love to visit whenever I'm in San Francisco is Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream parlour.

Marco Polo Italian Ice Cream

It's been around since 1982 - :o( I miss San Francisco and eating Marco Polo's ice cream...

Inside the parlour - simple no frills set up, with about 4 tables only.

What's Your Flavour?
Check out the cool flavours! While some are common to us folks in Malaysia, the fact is that they do serve great home made gelato at reasonable prices.

Sin Yee Kee Beef Noodles @ Pasar Besar Seremban & Legend Premium Tower

Enroute to Port Dickson last month with Ash, we decided to stop by the Pasar Besar Seremban for yet another beefy adventure at Sin Kee Beef Noodle stall.  I have been here several times (blogged about my first visit to this place a long while back in 2006 using my little Samsung camera! Check out my ancient post and old pics HERE).  As usual, I ordered my fave beef noodles with beef balls and tripe.  I love the gooey gravy and the whole works here (something Ash was not accustomed to and didn't enjoyed as much as I did).

Have a MAGGI Weekend!

Back in end March recently, I attended MAGGI's launch of their "Nasi Goreng ala Warung" range.  This new range of fried rice powder mix is designed to give a delectable wok taste and aroma - something that appeals to someone like me who likes a quick fix meal as it makes my meals a lot more convenient.  Having tried the samples on that day... I must say it's tasty.  The powder mix is MSG free and has low sodium content as MAGGI targets to give us a healthier and tastier option.

MAGGI's "Nasi Goreng Ala Warung" comes in six variants ....

Briyani, Padprik, Tomyam ...

Lada Hitam, Kampung and Cina.  I like the Nasi Goreng Kampung and Lada Hitam since I like spicy food.

To Ipoh We Go - A Tale of 5ive Floggers & 1 City (Part Four - Final)

So, what do 5 floggers (that's food bloggers for the uninitiated) do when they get together? Eat, of course and eat and eat !  ;o).  How do we do it?  Why, apart from the fact that some of us are 'larger than life' that make this task easier, we follow a simple rule of not ordering full individual meals at each round but more like a bowl or two shared by the five of us (in this case) but ever so often what will probably "knock us out" are the drinks as we tend to down them more to quench our thirst and our stomach will be bloated with water rather than food.  But as they say "The show must go on!" ... and so it did :o)

Food Shopping

To ensure that our stomach had a short break before springing (more like expanding, I would say...hahaha) into action, we dropped by Seng Kee to pack a few packets of their delicious Heong Peah, read the earlier post on Seng Kee HERE.

After we were done shopping, the next "action" took place at Dai Shu Geok (a place I've been to before, read my earlier review on this place HERE).  No noodles for me this time round just my fave Sar Kok Liew (Fried Stuffed Turnip).

Fried Stuffed Turnip
However, we found them oilier on this visit and cold - we probably missed the fresh batch and hence not totally satisfied.  We put in an extra order of Popiah (Fresh Spring Roll) which I found just average  ...

Happy Mother's Day @ Kiku Zakura, Tropicana City Mall Petaling Jaya

I like dining at Kiku Zakura in Tropicana City Mall for the reason that it's rather quiet and if I go for early lunch/dinner(before few other customers trickle in), I really do have the whole place to myself ;o). I also kinda like the food here, having first tried Kiku Zakura's food in the early days when I first discovered it in Section 14's Jaya Supermarket back in the 90s (I think). Meals here have always been relaxing and enjoyable.  So, it's been around awhile.  This time round for Mother's Day, I took Mom to Kiku Zakura and told her jokingly that I had reserved the whole restaurant for us and us alone.

Hahaha...she almost bought it till some customers strolled in half an hour later.

Koebi Karaage

I just love to snack on Koebi Karaage (RM13) each time I'm here! It's addictive :oP

Mom ordered her favourite Nabeyaki Udon, which was a set that came with 3 pieces of gyoza (RM27) while I took a longer time going through the rather extensive menu. Since I was in the mood for something cold I opted for the Tenzaru Chasoba (RM25).

GLEE-FUL Weekend! Glee Flash Mob @ The Gardens, KL

I had a fantastic weekend as I finally participated in my first flash mob and what flash mob could be better than a GLEE flash mob!  Since GLEE is my favourite show, I was very keen to join indeed.  I studied the moves on my own through a tutorial video and then attended two more rehearsals at The Gardens before going into real action on Saturday at 2pm at The Gardens Ground Level (positioned on the right - there were others on 1st Level and 2nd Level too).

I had a great time...as a GLEE fan, truly an experience to cherish and I enjoyed every single moment of it.  Thanks to Random Alphabets for organizing this flash mob.  However, from the aspect of a participant of a flash mob, it was a bit disappointing as there weren't that many onlookers at The Gardens.  The few hundreds of us definitely couldn't "blend" into the crowd and stood out like a very BIG sore thumb as we waited for our cue to start.  Without enough genuine spectators (doesn't include friends, relatives, media who were aware and prepared), it defeats the purpose of surprising folks with a flash mob.  So, at the end of the day ... we put aside our disappointment and we just danced for our very own enjoyment, crowd or no crowd!  Boy! We danced alright ... I think I flung my arms so vigorously till they almost detached from my body (my arms and legs are aching from the few minutes "workout" on Saturday while I had survived the two hour rehearsals I went through (TWICE) without such body aches!)

Here are some behind the scenes photos of Glee Flash Mob preparation and show time from Random Alphabets Facebook page, Here's also one of  the many videos I got off from YouTube showing the performance.  There are many more if one were to do a search for "Glee Flash Mob Gardens KL" in YouTube.  Check out the dance ....

And since we were dancing for ourselves anyway...we even had an encore (quite unheard of for "flash mob") and the second time round was totally awesome! Us, Gleeks gave our "all out" performance which nearly brought The Gardens down, hahaha.... Check out the video! Truly a performance of a lifetime :o)

I can now strike "Flash Mob" off from my bucket list ;o).  I'll remember 8 May 2010 for the rest of my life for it was a great day!

Have a GLEE-ful week ahead everyone!

To Ipoh We Go - A Tale of 5ive Floggers & 1 City (Part Three)

Well, what do we do after sweating it out in a lane for a photo shoot? We go eat again of course! Hahaha...We let Jason decide and we ended up in Sin Yuan Hong.  First order? We were really thirsty and ended up with ...

Kopi Ping (Coffee with ice)

... a Kopi Ping (Ice Coffee with milk) each.  Which we later kinda regret as that meant we were full of water, hence less space for food! :p

We then ordered a set of Poached Eggs On Toast .... I tell you, a work of art it is!

To Ipoh We Go - A Tale of 5ive Floggers & 1 City (Part Two)

The internet connection has been acting up of late.  Had wanted to blog earlier but I had problems trying to load the photos.  Here's a quick Part Two of the Ipoh trip ... After our visit at Thean Chun, we decided to walk around the area to take some photos of Ipoh city itself and not just the food :o).  Here are some of the pics I took.
